Post Milling / Cut a Phenom Body ???
I've been a long time "Space Gunner" and I'm in love with my Phenon. I just want to make a few changes to it to make it feel a little more Space gunnish.
SO....
Can you Mill / Cut some of the top rail?
Perhaps I'll take a picture and red line what I want cut. I know it can be cut, I'm just wondering about the body and if that really can be cut.

Thanks guys....

I'm IN !!!! I was thinking you guys would make fun of me for even thinking about it.
I really have no need for it, so if it can be done I'm REALLY looking into it!!

Like I said before I'm a HEAVY into "Space guns" but REALLY like the Phenom. So... smaller / lighter / being able to shoot better is what I'm looking for, and if I can Mill / Cut that top off it would do all 3 for me.

Do we know anyone that can do it?
Edit= Heck I just thought about it... we have an old Band Saw in PapaBee's barn, would that work? I've done metal and wood cutting on that allot and I think I could handle this cut myself. Then just File / sand down any small parts that need it to make it smooth and flush.

I'll get a picture with a Red Line on it to show what I want to cut to see what you guys think.

Thanks for the info Beaker....

I'm also HEAVY into looking to get the Double trigger upgrade when it comes out. So if anyone knows any news on that, I'm all ears!! :smt006

I've come FUll circle now... I'm back in the Tippy family.... :smt005

Heres a Tippmann spacegun I reckon you could get behind Scoobs
Image

An SL 68 II with A5 flatline reimagined by Ken of KPCS.

you could see how he thinks he could space gun up your Phenom.
also, he works with powder coat so he can change color, (can't anno a Tippmann, wrong alloys) and he's local, Garden City, I've been round to his house a couple of times to pick things up, he's usually wandering around at the HSI big games too.

LOL... Very nice...

Yeah what I want to take of would leave an unfinished strip on top.
I knew you can't anno tippy markers :(, but I didn't know anyone that can powder coat it.
Is it cheaper than Anno? I really don't know anything about the process.

Thanks for the help man... I hope to get a picture up soon with what I want to do.

It's powder you spray on then bake in a domestic oven, no special equipment required. I beleive it can come out crappy, but Ken does all his markers that way so has experience.

WOW... thanks for the info. I'll look into it for sure, and perhaps I'll be asking you for Ken's number to see if he can do it.

Thanks :smt004

^^^ That is JUST right for me!!! SO HAWT!!!!!!!!!!

I just need 2 things....
1. Shorter CLIP
2. Double Trigger

Edit:
I just thought of this.... if I do this would it VOID the warranty?
I know with the Ion if you did a couple key mods to the Ion back then it would Void the warranty but that was internal mods. I would think since this is external and just the body the warranty would still be ok.

I would have to say it would void your warranty since your modifying a forged or stamped OEM component. Tippmann could say that, failure of the marker is because the structural integrity of the marker has been compromised. As they are a sponsor, a call or email to them will yield you a true answer.

my 2 cents for what it's worth...

It's not that dramatic a change, they seem pretty reasonable about things in general. If internals failed in some way, or the cyclone broke, probably OK. If the body snapped in half, tough luck.

On the double trigger, in one of the vids they show the guard comes out as a single piece. Since it's a metal trigger you could just make a longer to fit over the top and a larger gaurd.

Since the valve is no longer dependant on the body, I wouldn't see an issue with it...

yep, just one more awesome factor, no more polishing internals.

Just had a machine shop guy look at it to get an idea of cost to mill it.

Beaker what did you say about keeping the rails? You can use them?
